Resonate Advisory is a Papamoa-based accounting and business advisory firm working with established business owners in Tauranga and across New Zealand. We take care of the accounting and tax, keep your numbers current, and provide practical advice to make cash flow, tax and business decisions easier to manage.
We know a successful-looking business can still rely on an overwhelmed owner holding everything together. Our advice considers both the business you’re building and the life it needs to support. You’ll get plain-English explanations, thoughtful questions and a safe pair of hands around the important stuff.
We genuinely get a fizz from helping business owners create more control, more headspace and more choice over what happens next. We take the work seriously, but working with your accountant doesn’t need to feel stiff or intimidating.

Meet Shelley.
Hello, I’m Shelley - the Chartered Accountant and business owner behind Resonate Advisory.
I have almost 20 years of experience across SME accounting firms and a large global accounting firm. During that time, I’ve worked with a wide range of business owners across business advisory, tax and accounting.
I love what I do because good accounting can make a real difference to someone’s life. Sometimes that means helping a business owner reach an ambitious goal. Sometimes it means freeing up their time, giving them confidence in a decision or simply removing some of the stress that comes with owning a business.
I’ve always been fascinated by business, particularly small business. My dad ran his own for more than 40 years. When I started ordering fish and chips by the exact number of chips and negotiated a pay rise for making his lunches based on the rising cost of the pies he would otherwise have bought, he probably knew before I did that I would become an accountant.
I promise I’m much less tedious these days - except behind the scenes, where being particular about your numbers is fairly useful.
It’s the people side of accounting that I enjoy most. I’m endlessly interested in the people who have taken a chance and created something of their own. I started Resonate Advisory because I saw an opportunity to give those business owners a more personal, proactive accounting experience - one that recognises that the business is there to support a life, not consume it.

Having supported my husband's business over the years, I understand how stressful it can be when you're unsure what's coming next. My role is to help clients stay organised, understand their obligations, and feel more in control of their finances.
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me with my three children, out for a run, or fitting in a Pilates session.

Hi, I'm Jamaica.
My interest in accounting actually started when I was still a teenager. I was always fascinated by what my older brother was studying, and because he was studying accounting, I became curious about what it was all about. I would even sneak off with his accounting books at night and read through the concepts simply because I wanted to understand them!
Growing up in a family that has owned and run a school supplies business for over 25 years has also given me a firsthand appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and occasional chaos that comes with running a small business. That early curiosity, combined with seeing my own family run a business, eventually inspired me to pursue accounting as a career.
Today, I enjoy supporting small business owners with their accounting and bookkeeping needs and continuing to learn and grow in the profession.
When I’m not working with numbers, you’ll usually find me spending time with my 13 cats, enjoying a good coffee, or catching up with family.
